SDBC/Emerald Textiles announces rosters, including new 1/2/U25 team

The new-look SDBC/Emerald Textiles cycling team has announced its 2014 racing rosters, title and supporting sponsors and is fresh off a three-day training camp in Borrego Springs Jan. 17-19.
The longtime San Diego racing and recreational club is proud to add Emerald Textiles as its title sponsor for 2014. Emerald Textiles has been Southern California’s choice for commercial healthcare linen and linen services for 30 years, and has quickly developed a reputation for its focus on extreme cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Team colors will align with Emerald’s green, white and black, a significant departure from the traditional red, yellow and black of years past.
Supporting sponsors of the team include UC Cyclery, FMT Consultants, Medline, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Hi-Tech Bikes, Fluid Sports Nutrition, Java Depot, Dagan Law, Straight Nutrition, the Law Firm of Richard L. Duquette, and Pactimo clothing.
Rosters have been beefed up in each racing category, including Men’s Cat. 3, Men’s Cat. 4/5, Women’s 3/4, Masters, Juniors, and Mountain Bike teams. No other Southern California team will bring as much depth, at every level, as SDBC in 2014.
In addition, for the first time in a couple of years, SDBC has added a Men’s Cat. 1/2/U25 team that is equipped to take on Southern California’s best in both criteriums and road races. The team includes up-and-coming previous SDBC members Sean Mulderig, Dan Zitter, Isaac Guerra Marin, Drew Lawyer, Jonathan Deguzman, Ben Sarno and Edwin Clement. Newcomers include Ben Rathkamp, Luke Ramseth, and coach/racer Brian Kappus. Hi-Tech Bikes will be the proud sponsor. Members will ride SCOTT bicycles and wear SCOTT helmets provided by Hi-Tech Bikes. They will target primarily Southern California events.
More than 30 team members recently wrapped up a weekend full of riding and team-building activities in the desert town of Borrego Springs. Upcoming target races include the Boulevard Road Race and Red Trolley Criterium, Feb. 1 and 2.
SDBC hosts the annual Barrio Logan Grand Prix, set for May 3, and the Fiesta Island Time Trial Series.
