SDBC Weekly Update

Amazon Smile

Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it' easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.

Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon.

A Note From the President
San Diego Bicycle Club Just Four Seats Left for Luncheon Honoring SDBC

As announced last week, SDBC has been named “Volunteer Partner of the Year” by the SalvationArmy/Kroc Center, for its annual Christmas Toy Ride, delivering thousands of toys to the center.

We have just four seats left for the luncheon and awards ceremony at the Club’s table. The Center’s 17th Birthday Bash Luncheon is a week from Saturday, on July 27th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. It’s at the same place where we drop off the toys – 6611 University Ave.

If you would like to join us at no charge, please email me at president@sdbc.org.  First come, first served.

A Note From the Volunteer Director
San Diego Bicycle Club Bikes for Kids Volunteer Needed

In addition to delivering toys to the Kroc Center this December, we’re also looking into delivering fully assembled bikes.  We need a volunteer to identify brands of basic, no-frills entry-level new bikes for kids of various ages.  We’d start with contacting Specialized.  We’d then set a goal of funding a certain number of bikes (10?  25? or...)  The Board will work on raising money to buy the bikes, and the Bike volunteer will oversee ordering, assembly, and coordinate delivery of finished bikes.

If you are interested please contact me.  We can’t move forward on this without a volunteer.

Thank you,
Linda Webb

Pacific Coast 100
Volunteers Needed

September 7, 2019

The Orange County Wheelmen were not able to get a train for their century ride. Consequently, they have re-branded the ride as the "Pacific Coast 100" and will be ending their ride at Rouler Brewery in Oceanside. They will need volunteers at Rouler 12:30-4:30 to help load bikes.

Contact Joe at  joe.bernhardt@ocwheelmen.org if you can help out.

OCW will make a donation to SDBC if any of you choose to volunteer.
