SDBC Weekly Update

Amazon Smile

Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it’s easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.

Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon.

We will be riding from Pepper Park, 3299 Tidelands Avenue near the Gordy Shields bridge in National City. The route is about 35 miles.

There will be a short advocacy at 8:20 AM. Be ready to roll at 8:30 AM. This is a free, fun ride at a conversational pace out around the Bayshore Bikeway to Coronado and back.

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison

San Diego Bicycle ClubSDCBC Logo

D-1 and some of the other groups have been using the "steer from the rear" technique, borrowed from motorcycling groups, and I learned from CyclingSavvy, for some time.

It can really aid groups moving left across a road especially when there is other busy and fast traffic present. The more people who understand it, the more smoothly it works.

Please check out this excellent five minute video from CyclingSavvy about it:
